所有患者都接受了2100IX医疗直线加速器的治疗，这是由Varian医疗系统公司(Palo Alto, CA, USA)研制开发的，现在可以在治疗之前使用车载影像检查设备进行检查并调节定位。影像检查设备帮助临床医生在治疗过程中，对目标肿瘤进行观察和定位。

新西兰南岛Christchurch医院放射治疗临床经理Viv All评论说：“这些影像为我们增加剂量提供了信心，特别是前列腺癌患者，这已经通过临床试验证实了对患者的效益。我们没有很多机会来更换设备，因此我们决定站出来提供现代放射治疗技术。我们觉得影像介导的放射治疗[IGRT]和呼吸门控系统正是我们想提供给患者的产品。”

ChristChurch医院使用Varian公司的RPM呼吸门控系统和GE健康保健公司的(Waukesha, WI, USA)CT扫描仪来监测调节由呼吸导致的肿瘤运动。

Liner Accelerator Imaging Device
 
A new linear accelerator with an on-board imaging device has given people in New Zealand access to cutting-edge image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) that optimizes accuracy and enables clinicians to potentially improve patient outcomes.

All patients treated with the 2100IX medical linear accelerator, developed by Varian Medical Systems (Palo Alto, CA, USA), are now imaged with the On-Board Imager device to check and adjust positioning before treatment. The imager enables clinicians to see and target tumors more accurately during treatment sessions.

“The images give us the confidence to increase doses, particularly for our prostate cancer patients, which has been shown through clinical trials to be beneficial for the patient,” remarked Viv All, radiation therapy clinical manager, Christchurch Hospital, South Island, New Zealand. “We don’t get many opportunities to replace equipment and we decided we wanted something that would make us stand out and was in the forefront of modern radiotherapy technology. We felt that image-guided radiation therapy [IGRT] and respiratory gating were that we wanted to offer our patients.”

ChristChurch Hospital uses Varian’s RPM respiratory gating system in conjunction with a GE Healthcare’s (Waukesha, WI, USA) computed tomography (CT) scanner to monitor and adjust for tumor motion caused by breathing.
